Franciscan Children's Hospital Franciscan Children's Hospital Brighton, MA Brighton, MA Full-time Full-time From $20 an hour From $20 an hour The McLean Franciscan Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program is seeking an experienced Intake Specialist to join our team! The Intake Specialist is responsible for performing the evaluation and admission process in conjunction with the Clinical Director or designee.
The individual will accurately assess each referral for the appropriateness of the CBAT unit services.
The Intake Specialist will help facilitate the admissions process to ensure that each step is performed accurately and in a timely manner.
Proper customer service will be given to all individuals to ensure a comfortable experience during the admission process.
Key Responsibilities Supports the hospital's admissions activities and processes; assisting with implementing and maintaining revenue-generating strategies; supporting and implementing admissions best-practices; promoting the hospital; maintaining a satisfied referral base.
Responds promptly to referral phone calls and emails, and gather appropriate information required for admission.
Interviews referring professional to obtain clinical and demographic data and occasionally gathers information from family members.
Information gathered must be comprehensive, accurate, and support the need for admission.
Interacts with patients, family member or referring professional in a courteous and professional manner.
With medically or psychiatrically complicated cases, reviews referral with Program Manager and/or psychiatrist in a timely and professional manner.
Coordinates incoming admissions with multiple collaterals and staff including referral source, family members, insurance companies, case managers, nursing staff, and general hospital admissions staff.
Assigns resident to appropriate unit based on census and clinical presentation Communicates all resident information related to a potential admission to clinical and floor staff in an effective and timely manner.
Obtains census (admissions, anticipated discharges) on each unit at least three times during each twenty-four hour period and as indicated.
Develops and maintains personal relationships with case managers, social workers, physicians, and other referral sources by phone interaction.
Completes and manages all paperwork or supportive documentation required for performing effective billing and forwards to billing department.
Provide periodic reports and summarize trends.
Discover and explore new referral sources and admissions channels.
Requirements Bachelor's degree 3-5 years experience in a mental health setting.
