Switchboard Operator

1.0 Answer calls in a timely manner.
On a daily basis answers all external and internal calls using good judgment in prioritizing calls according their urgency. Note: Emergency calls should be first. Insuring people are not placed on hold for long periods of time. All calls should be answered in a timely manner (no more than 6 rings).
2.0 Be courteous to all callers external and internal.
On a daily basis operators must answer all external calls by stating "Franciscan Hospital for Children, this is the operator, how may I help you?" All calls should be forwarded to the proper extensions in a timely manner.
3.0 Greet all visitors entering the hospital.
On a daily basis the operator is to greet all customers in a courteous and friendly way. Directions should be given and questions should be answered with respect. If a visitor needs assistance with understanding due to a language barrier the operator must notify interpreter services.
4.0 Assist disgruntled visitors that need assistance .
If you are confronted by a disgruntle visitor the Human Resources and Security Department should be notified for assistance.
5.0 Responsible for learning and understanding of operator training information and how to use communications for emergency situations.

16. Transferring calls
17. Put calls on hold and connect 2 callers.
18. Check two way radios, cell phone, emergency phone and fire alarm panel to ensure all are working and fire alarm panel is normal.
19. Complete and forward all daily reporting to the director.
6.0 Assist in clerical work from other areas in the hospital during slow times/off shifts 3-11 and 11-7
7.0 Responsible for keeping Hospital directory up to date.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
